Breakfast Topic: Awesome animations

There have been some truly spectacular visual moments in Azeroth; scenes that make you gasp and glee. I'm thinking of occasions like the Scourge Invasion of Stormwind and Orgrimar or Kael'thas blowing up his room in Tempest Keep. Who can deny Wrathgate was incredible. However, there are also some awesome little animations that really add so much to the game. It's these little things that we can take for granted but sometimes jump out at us as something wonderful.
Even on a hard night of raid wiping in our guild, if someone chugs a stack of Pygmy Oil and /cower's it's bound to bring a laugh. Many a machinima has featured a /dance, from one race or many, with variously spectacular and humorous results.
Who's /flex is better, Draenei or Blood Elf? Have you ever left one of your characters alone for a while and then had their idle-animation surprise you? Are there any actions or animations you wish were in the game? What animations bring a smile to your face?

For cool animations, the Female Forsaken has the best. She does awesome flips and spins with her one-handed animations. She evokes paranoia and stealthiness as turns and glares about. Her cower animations is a mixture of humrous over-the-topness and true unmitigated horror.
May not be as funny as some other races, but she rocks.

Bloodelves /dance for me although the trolls /dance is pretty neat as well with all of the flips and the like and as for /silly I like the Forsakens "Roses are gray violets are gray I'm dead and colorblind" Its so dark but its funny for some reason

The BEST animation is the old world Giants farting and a bubble coming out. Let me tell you, that's good stuff.

Male trolls and their dance being various Caopeira moves.
In all the silly pop culture crap the other races have, I respect Blizzard's animation team for putting that little gem in the game.

I'm not picking on you, but I've seen this word spelled MANY diferent ways over the web, including on this site. So I thought I'd point it out: the correct spelling is "capoeira".

i liek the orcs /silly: we come from the orcs, we like to eat with forks, we like to eat a pork (or something like that)
also i must admit that wrathgate was awesome(liek the whole questline)
and i also like the start of the fight with algalon

As silly as this is, for some reason the human male *sigh* *twitch* always makes me chuckle.

All seems pretty dated to me, spell effects / combat animation especially. some of the dances are funny sure but I think it all is in need of a overhaul.
Spells should look more epic and special. Do something with combat animation is
so boring, needs some variety, like when a warrior blocks an attack for instance, actually SHOW him block it.
I'd really like to see cooler death animations too. Like decapitations and such.
More blood, brutal combat.

I'll agree on having some cooler death animations. Maybe not so much decapitations or blood, but some variety, you know? The Blood Elves have their over-acting extended-death animation, but thats the only one that I can think of; probably because every other race just falls down when they die. Not sure about that, but either way they haven't caught my attention so they aren't spectacular.

I dunno. The Nelf female midair flip and ground smash is pretty cool, IMO.
Spiraea Sep 13th 2009 1:23PM
If you want decapitations and blood splatter, you have been playing the wrong game this entire time. Go play Age of Conan or something

I'll stick with WoW. I think it's a great game, just saying it
needs more variety in it's animations. Like the way casters
look when they get their spells off. Why should my undead
female priest look the same every time it's boring.
Also variation in death animation could be done "tastefully" as well.
Take ice mages for example, what if blizz implemented a critical
death animation like if you kill someone from an ice spell they
turn into a block of ice and shatter into million pieces or w/e..
There's all sorts of possibilities.
I get tired of seeing an orc die the same way every single time.
Making the exact same noise.

As much as I like the game the combat animation is dull.
My undead warrior doing a backflip every now and then
doesn't cut it imo. Could be much better.

The "Titan-sitting-in-a-chair" animation has to be my favorite. It just looks so epic.
Purifico Sep 13th 2009 9:49AM
the /facepalm animation simply MUST be in the game! You hear me Blizzard?

My favorite animation probably has to be after drinking a few noggenfogger elixers and turning into the skeleton /cower. The skeleton goes completely upright and perfectly still, definitely wasn't expecting that the first time I saw it.
Raze Sep 13th 2009 10:30AM
Ironically, that there is a /lack/ of animation, and not an actual animation. It's the state several model changes go into when you transform and use certain /commands.
The black whelps you can transform into's models freeze up when you /sleep, too.

Ummm.....I'm upset that no one has brought up the Moonkin /dance and the Moonkin /cower. My love for my Moonkin only grows fonder when the King in UP fears everyone cold and my Moonkin only as if it is shivering.
That point above and the Chris Farley tribute makes the Moonkin a much beloved animator in WoW

Female undead mele animations...love the flippyness :)
Undead casting animations
The bridge opening to Lady Vasj in SSC
Sapphiron's forming animation
Most everything in Ulduar is awesome as well. :)

I would be happier if there were no emotes at all. They get spammed constantly everywhere, and belfs have the most annoying ones by far. I want to savagely murder the blood elf voice talent for being so damn smug. Space goats are a close second.
