"BUGA - Bicicleta de Utilização Gratuita de Aveiro" BUGA is a free-use bike sharing system started in Aveiro, in central Portugal, in 2000. How to use it? Go to one of the BUGA centers (eg. at the Forum) from 10am. Leave an ID card, take a bike, go for a ride, return the bike till 7pm at the same bike center, get your ID card back. Simple and free. Despite old, BUGAs are surprisingly robust and handy 3-gear bycicles. Aveiro is quite flat and easy to bike with many cyclepaths. Baby seats, maps and helmets are also available at the bike centers.
