Mannheim[edit]
Hallo! --Wegavision (talk) 10:41, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

- Hey Ies. Can we please keep these pictures ON. You said they were low quality. Thats really not the case. It seems that way, because they're taken with astronomical filters. They have some interesting artifacts on them. Some of the artifacts looks blurry, like as if they're moving or that the camera is. But looking at the background & foreground, you can see the buildings & trees are stationary, so thats not the case. These are some interesting pics. Please let them be, they definitely have educational value. thanks :)Emphatik (talk) 10:44, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
- Hey Ies. Can we close this nomination request & keep the pictures as detailed in the nomination page? Its been a little over a week now. thanks Emphatik (talk) 22:13, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not happy that a sockpuppet supports the delition request. However, there was one week time to give the images useful descriptions and appropriate categories so that other users can see that the images are filter tests, that the bad look is provoked to demonstrate something etc., and therefore the images are worth to be kept. But nothing happens. We still have *very low* quality images with a vague descriptions and without any category. Hence I think that even the uploader doubts about his images. Moreover, if you look for sun filter images in the web you only find *much better* quality images what means that the images here in question are much worse in any comparsion. Until now I can't see any reason to keep them. -- Ies (talk) 07:07, 10 January 2015 (UTC)
- Hey Ies, they were meant to be "low quality" in that what hes trying to capture are the artifacts that show up when he uses filters to photograph the sun. I've added that to the description. The author is himself Italian, which is why he didnt add a description.Emphatik (talk) 06:43, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

Globales Benutzerkonto[edit]
Hallo Ies!
-- Ies (talk) 05:40, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
Why removing category[edit]
Hi, I'm wondering why you have removed the "Category:Natural patterns" on my images like this one? File:Frost-pattern_2.png Please add it again for all the images and the next time you have ideas like this please contact me first so we can discuss it, thanks. --Goran tek-en (talk) 12:33, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Goran tek-en, there is no need for any discussion. The images were over-categorized and that's what I corrected. Note that Category:Frost patterns is a child category of Category:Natural patterns. Therefore adding the latter as additional category is wrong. For further information about categorizing and why images shouldn't be over-categorized please read Commons:Categories. Btw, Category:Eisblume was completely wrong! -- Ies (talk) 12:59, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

danke für diesen Hiweis. Leider weiß ich aber nicht, was Du mir damit sagen möchtest? Welches Bild meinst Du? Von welchem Artikel sprichst Du? Ohne diese Infos kann ich Dir nicht weiterhelfen? LG

Hi there,
All of the photos that you have deleted have been uploaded to Flickr with the correct ShareAlike license. You can see the page in question here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/130476644@N02/
It would be great if you could therefore undelete the images so I can use them across Wikipedia. Many thanks,

Hello Ies. The first locomotive is the Arnold Jung : https://www.flickr.com/photos/34148515@N03/9078389068/ . The second behind is a fireless locomotive, but i do not know the builder.

Birgu[edit]
Do you know what is the name of the street which leads from Fort Saint Angelo to the border with Cospicua? There are three categories, and I suspect they all refer to the same road: Ix-Xatt tal-Birgu (which you created in March 2014), Vittoriosa Waterfront (which you created last week) and Xatt il-Forn (which I created just now). On Google Earth, the whole street is known as "Xatt il-Forn" (see here), however the terms "Xatt il-Birgu" and "Vittoriosa Waterfront" both seem to be in use. What is you opinion regarding these categories? PS. I replied to your message on my talk page. --Xwejnusgozo (talk) 10:37, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
- Google maps turned out to be unreliable in certain areas of Malta and I think it's unreliable in the current case, too. Actually I took an image of an "Ix-Xatt tal-Birgu" street sign and saw some more of them where Google maps indicates "Xatt il-Forn". My suspicion is that the latter was the old name for that steet and that it was renamed during the restauration works. To me there seem three street names in use at the west coast of Birgu:
- from Fort St. Angelo south to the Maritime Museum: Ix-Xatt tal-Birgu,
- west (also north and south) of the Freedom Memorial: Xatt ir-Rizq,
- a footpath rather than a street further south to Café Bacino and the boundary: Vittoriosa Waterfront.
- In Cospicua the footpath is continued
- from the boundary south to Kazin tal-Banda San Gorg along to Fuq San l-Inkurunazzjoni in the former dock 1 area,
- further south along to Ix-Xatt ta' Bormla (wrong as Ix-Xatt ta' Bormila in Google) directly at the former dock 1.
Btw. Google maps is also wrong in Senglea. Where Google indicates Ir - Rampa Ta' L - Isla is actually Triq is-Sur. The southern part of Google's Ix-Xatt Juan B. Azzopardi is actually Triq it-Tarzna (north of the Sheer Bastion) and Triq il-31 ta' Marzu (south of the Sheer Bastion). The latter belongs to Senglea and not to Cospicua as Google's boundary lines suggest. etc. etc. It's a rather unpleasant and time robbing work to cross-check that all. -- Ies (talk) 14:22, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
-
- Could MaltaPost's postcode finder (which can be found here) be a used as a definitive source of the street names? The streets listed are:
- "Xatt tal-Birgu" (including Fort St. Angelo, Café Bacino and Grand Harbour Marina (referring to Cottonera Marina?). The Wet Ditch would also be considered here since it's close to the fort)
- "Xatt il-Forn" (including the Malta Maritime Museum. The Admiralty Gate would also be considered here since it's close to the museum)
-
- The list does not include "Vittoriosa Waterfront" or "Xatt ir-Risq". For now, I've moved Fort St. Angelo back to Xatt tal-Birgu. What do you think regarding the other categories? --Xwejnusgozo (talk) 20:37, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
Indeed, MaltaPost's postcode finder seems the most reliable source for inhabited streets. However, meanwhile I found two more sources for Xatt ir-Risq.
- Here Times of Malta mentiones Xatt ir-Risq in the dock 1 area.
- Here Malta Independent describes "Xatt ir-Risq stretching from the Freedom monument in Vittoriosa to the area below Cospicua’s belvedere, as part of the Dock 1 project".
I think as an inhabited area it's not listed in the postcode finder.
All in all we seem to have three names now.
- "Xatt tal-Birgu",
- "Xatt il-Forn", and
- "Xatt ir-Rizq" for the recently reconstructed and inhabited street/footpath/belvedere from the Freedom monument south to dock 1 in Cospicua.
Do you agree?
Regarding the Cottonera Marina: All signs I saw there said "Grand Harbour Marina". I guess it was renamed by its new owner. See the Grand Harbour Marina website
-- Ies (talk) 06:55, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
Regarding the Cottonera/Grand Harbour Marina, sources from when it was being built use the name "Cottonera Marina" (eg. these sources from 2003 and 2004), so probably that was the original name. Now it seems that "Grand Harbour Marina" is used as you said, and I just renamed the category.
Regarding the names of the streets, I agree with you and think it should be as follows:
- The section from Fort St. Angelo to the old treasury is known as Xatt tal-Birgu (subcategories Fort St. Angelo, Wet Ditch and Grand Harbour Marina)
- the section from the Maritime Museum to Admiralty Gate is known as Xatt il-Forn (subcategories Malta Maritime Museum, Admiralty Gate and Grand Harbour Marina)
- the section from the Freedom Monument to the border with Cospicua is known as Xatt ir-Risq (subcategories Freedom Monument, Bacino Café and Grand Harbour Marina - note that Bacino Café is listed on MaltaPost's postcode finder as in "Xatt tal-Birgu", but the area is clearly Xatt ir-Risq as per the Times of Malta/Malta Independent sources you found)
The marina is situated all along the entire creek, so I included it as a subcategory for all the three streets. I nominated the now empty Vittoriosa Waterfront category for deletion. I think that this is an informal name referring to all the three streets put together, especially the area of Xatt tal-Birgu and Xatt il-Forn. --Xwejnusgozo (talk) 13:38, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
Zinc and galvanization[edit]
Regarding this, en.wikipedia says "Galvanization, or galvanisation, is the process of applying a protective zinc coating to steel or iron, to prevent rusting".
For this reason, I think it is appropriate to include "Zinc" in the categorization of "Galvanization".
What is your opinion about it? --Daniele Pugliesi (talk) 02:14, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
- You are right. I got fooled by the similar German word "Galvanisation" what means electroplating. Thank you for paying attention. -- Ies (talk) 05:39, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

Article Vogelpark Viernheim[edit]
Dear Ies, For my article "Vogelpark Viernheim", I now categorized all the photos used in the article except one - for that animal I could not find any latin name in internet, if I can find later I will ad. Thanks for the advise. Could you please take time to have a look again if everything is right now? This is my first article, I am not so skilled in internet topics, so I hope you understand this is very new to me. Der Super-Dickmann
